Based on my observations from watching my ASSP and my Exchange server under load I would say no. For each connection to ASSP a connection is created from ASSP to the MTA behind it. When the connecting server disconnects ASSP also disconnects the connection to the MTA. I've watched my w32 ASSP server while TCPView was running during the middle of the day and it was creating and closing connections just as fast as it was getting them. I have a hunch as to what might have caused your issue but I would need more info before I could be sure. If you can give me more info as to the circumstances that caused your issue I would definitely look into it. Number of recepeints, CC or BCC involved etc... Feel free to message me off-list.
