I believe Fritz is just attempting to warn any users of ASSP X that the Beta
ASSP is being used. It's bad for another product to be using a beta with no
explanation that it is. Their users may think badly about ASSP if they are
having problems. Where if they know it's a Beta they can expect issues and
would know to give feedback in the appropriate places.

Many users would rather just stick to stable releases and not have to mess with
Beta's. However based on Fritz's comments the users are not being told they are
using Beta code and are left to assume it's a stable release.

You mean someone is using free software within the scope of the license
with which it is released? It's not open to anyone's "amazing
interpretation" of the GPL, Fritz. ASSP is free open-source software
licensed under the GPL, clear and simple.

But it's ok to use your "private builds" as long as you get a piece of
the action? ASSP Deluxe for cPanel is using your private beta (it's on
1.3.4(14) currently) and the WHM interface makes no note that it is beta
or that it came from your private stash. But ASSP Deluxe is giving you
portion of the sales and ASSP X is not.
