I don't have a choice in the matter. I inherited the network as-is,
and if I break it, my head will be on a platter ;)
As far as I can tell the only non-standard bits of my setup are that
(1: ASSP doesn't parse outbound email, and 2: inbound mail doesn't go
to 127.0.0.1:125, but a different machine).

Ooh, I should have thought of looking at the code myself ;)
There aren't any common configuration problems that cause ASSP to
"freeze" (ports [25, 55555] are still open, but don't get answered),
are there?
