Bad dns - not the case. I checked, the two servers in /etc/resolv.conf  
are the ones supplied by our ISP.
Bad bombRE - nope. Not a single bombRE is enabled.
Bad assp.cfg file - quite possible, I'm new to ASSP. I put my config  
online at http://pastebin.com/m3fbae1d0, if anyone is willing to take  
a look for common errors.

I'll try out 1.3.5 on one of the two servers, with some luck it won't  
keep freezing on me :)
