That's 2 completely different technologies, digital will always be
faster because it doesn't have to deal with things that were designed
before computers existed.


Absolutely understood, I meant to indicate that it wasn't a failing of the
zaptel system but was something specific this type of connection.

Like you say, those analog loops were developed before computers were even
considered.  It's for this reason that I hate dealing with analog lines.  If
you can justify a bit more cost even on a small system, (Full PRI circuits
can be had for under $600 if you really shop), a PRI circuit will take a bit
longer to get setup, but the reward is huge in terms of features and
reliability.
