My info may be dated but try asking for "Microlink" (BRI) or "Megalink" (PRI). If they tell you that's a data product, just humour them until you get the right person.

Drew

Often, that's the biggest struggle with Bell: getting someone one the phone who has a clue what you're asking for. I tried to get a price from Bell for a BRI and they couldn't even tell me who I could talk to about that. I think I called 3 or 4 different numbers then gave up.

Actually they are currently charging us $120 / month for 30 DIDs

$4 / DID which seems quite high, much more than most VoIP providers !
Second, I tried calling their business support today, and they
didn't even seem to have any idea what I was talking about. They
made me send an e-mail to some address, and I haven't gotten any
    reply yet.

        Livia,

I belevie you do have to get the rest of DIDs from Bell (costs
around $2 for 30 or more). Sometime ago I had a need for
different exchange number through one a Toronto PRI (different
rate center) but they were not able to do it. So, the CLEC
that owns the block assigns paths. But why are you looking
into other DID providers anyways? Bell has a good deal on them
        if you have the PRI.

        Regards,
        Bruce

Subject: [on-asterisk] DID question

I have a question a little bit off-topic: my company uses a
        PRI from
Bell with a block of DIDs assigned to it. We are looking into
        adding
more DIDs (50 or so) to that PRI.
Am I correct in assuming that we can only get those DIDs from
        Bell ? I
am not looking for VoIP DIDs, I need them to come through the
        PRI.
Also, if I wanted a block of toll-free numbers, they would
        have to be
mapped to local DIDs, correct ?

Thanks,
Liviu
