Thank You! that explains it and all the mystery of it all. I will
attempt to summarize it here for anyone googling for info on how to cure
this problem

1. Leaving searchcontexts=yes UNcommented gives this error in some older
setups: no access to the u1024 and an asterisk crash.

2. Commenting out the searchcontexts=yes allows * to not crash but still
have issues on properly executing voicemail.

Do this:

voicemail.conf

[myvm]
1234 => 1234,,, ; or whatever

extensions.conf:

exten => s,n,Voicemail([EMAIL PROTECTED]) ; or whatever

 From above and my past experiences I had to do the following items:
1. edit up voicemail.conf file
2. run addmailbox command to create boxes. (may not be neccessary but
didn't hurt me either.) This was nice command that allowed me to create
a new context inside voicemail.conf file and fully setup all the parts.
3. modify connections.conf file lines with voicemail() in them to
support the selected [context] from voicemail.conf file. Many examples
leave out the @myvm part as shown in example above. These were the
gotchas that nipped at me and now maybe this will help others after me
seeking similar help a few weeks/ months later.

I see that I have format=wav49|gsm|wav and all THREE were created when a
message was left. Do I really need more than one listed in my * ? Are
there advantages to having all 3 at once or is one preferred ? (for
space saving)

Rich
