Barry,

        The average user should not add anything to the root partition.  You 
can install AstLinux on a CF and then create another partition on the 
same CF for your keydisk.  You can then use all of the space on that CF.

        It should also be possible to create a keydisk on another device, and 
then mount the second partition on your cf as astlinux-opt.  You can 
pass astopt on the GRUB command line to have AstLinux automatically do that.
