I am about to start researching the purchase of a few of these external gateways. I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences and make some recommendations? Kristian, you seem to have quite a bit of experience with these things. Can you share some of your wisdom with us ;-)

Thanks, Tom

In the fwiw department, I have two Mediatrix 1104 gateways that I found
on ebay for <$100 (about $450 new) which I hope to use. Advantages I
perceive over a TDM400 are: power-off failover to PSTN, better voice
quality, ability to use Soekris 4801 instead of mini ITX or similar
(lower power, serial port admin).

I haven't configured them yet, so this idea is currently worth what
you're paying for it ;-).  It does seem that latest firmware (which is
now publicly available despite what old google-retrieved messages will
suggest) is more Asterisk friendly.

cheers, michael
