Barry,

        The keydisk partition is read/write regardless of which physical device 
it is on.  The keydisk stores all of your configurations.  If you wanted 
to add files that would stay in memory, but wouldn't be changed 
frequently, opt would be the place to do it.  The keydisk will have more 
writes than any other mounted partition.

        You will have better luck with external gateways.  I prefer them over 
PCI interface cards in almost all situations.
