Tom,

Follow the links.  Do not remove /etc/zaptel.conf  (you can if you use 
unionfs, but it's not the officially supported method at this time).

The link /tmp/etc/zaptel.conf is created when /etc/init.d/zaptel init is 
run at boot time.  It will link to /mnt/kd/zaptel.conf if that file exists.

What do you have "zapmods" set to in your rc.conf file?  What does 
"lspci" show for this card?
