Since the GUI doesn't have any way to set ZAPOPTS where do you expect
one to set it? It seems like rc.conf should be moved to a "default.conf"
type file that is loaded before all others. 

I guess I don't understand the design. All documentation led me to think
that I should be editing rc.conf yet nothing that I put in it was being
picked up. That seems to be a problem (at least from a user
perspective).

I also understand that 0.6 may have changed this scheme but don't you
think it should still be "backwards compatible"?
