Tod, many thanks.... I believe you're on to something.... I will just wipe all 
my config files and start form scratch... Your're right it looks like with the 
new asterisk version I may have some deprecated settings....   Thanks again

As mentioned by Darrick Hartman in his reply of April 19, 2009 (which you 
quoted), the problem is probably in your dial plan. Asterisk itself changes 
with time and the newer AstLinux distribution has a newer Asterisk. You may 
have some deprecated item in your dial plan or simply something that was 
working because of a now fixed bug in Asterisk. If you can't figure it out by 
watching the Asterisk console with a high level of verbosity set then follow
