If you take a look at this:
Comparing Media RSS formats
http://www.w3.org/2005/07/media-and-rss.html

Even in this document, the wrong namespace is listed for Media RSS (the correct form -- and why the spec is broken -- should have a trailing slash).

I'm doing some short-term contract work for Y!, completely unrelated to RSS/Atom. This very thread (as it pertains to Media RSS) was pointed out in an internal RSS mailing list today, with no response from the people who are supposed to be involved in this stuff. Either they're on vacation, or they've essentially checked-out from the Media RSS world. Heck, even Y! News uses the wrong namespace URL (and they even added an element or two that doesn't exist in the spec).

Either way, it might be time for a responsible community member to fork version 1.1.2 of the spec, clean up the document, put together some unit tests for implementors, and add some sort of formal process around it so that the world can move on without Y!'s help (or lack thereof).
