James is 100% right. Think of any feed as a google search result,
ordered in terms of relevance. On your average blog, the newest post
is always the most relevant :). I would support mnot's draft moving
onto the standards track if it followed the linking scheme outlined by
James. The "RSS way" of doing it could be kept alongside, if that's
politically necessary. If Mark opts not to support atom:link, my
support changes to silence, and I will go right ahead and implement
the three link relations I need in my Atom implementations: next,
prev, and profile.
