Stringing a rod isn't difficult, it just takes practice. For that matter, I prefer to use a heavier line to make it easier on me. I prefer ten pound test and above. Tying knots in the line is the tricky part, but it too can be done with practice. My personal preference is to use swivel snaps so I don't need to tie new stuff whenever I want to change a lure out. That being said, sometimes fish are picky, so that doesn't always yield best results. Also, unless you're fishing in a current, try to stay away from bobbers. They are too visual I've found, and you can't feel a strike.
