Hey there,
I have installed Mate desktop, and I enjoy it quite a lot. Not just desktop now works correctly, but its Mate menu seems to be much better than Gnome's upper tray.
Speaking of which, Mate doesn't have tray bars, does it? Asking just for case, that I missed something.
Also settings are completely accessible, what was not the case with Gnome 3. It's quite interesting, I found on Orca's Github page, that they recommend using only Gnome 3.37, as it contains the latest accessibility features, but...
I have also observed, that switching display manager to lightdm, as recommended by multiple sources almost completely ruined accessibility, what I quite don't get as according to what I have read, display managers are responsible just for showing login screen and starting sessions, so it shouldn't have effect on session accessibility, but it certainly does. Therefore if someone was triing to do it, I recommend to be careful.
There's just one thing, which is quite problematic with Mate, and that is, that when I move for example left or right in a text row, i don't get character by character spoken, but first character is always silent and when I approach nextone, two are announced together.
For example, word hello, when read from left to right, would be presented as:
h
el
lo
It happens in text navigation as well as Orca's screen text navigation (I mean orca + M and orca + . shortcuts).
Does someone have similar issue?
It's not that critical, but I guess it will get quite annoying after some time.
