Can't really say if it sounds better, but reproducing HDCD discs without
the proper decoding doesn't make much sense to me despite the
"compatible" moniker. At least, the higher resolution promise of HDCD
would not be realized. It could even sound worse than a regular CD!

I believe the HDCD data is preserved by EAC during the ripping process.
I'll have to rip a HDCD to WAV and then playback the file using Windows
Media Player version 10 which is HDCD capable to find out....
