I have recording multiple LPs, and will likely do many more. I have
hundreds of LPs, so my incentive was pretty high. As many suggested,
it's not worth it without high-end components to begin with. So the
investment is likely not worth it for some. I needed to invest in a
decent replacement turntable and cartridge, so I spent the bucks. I
then realized that my records sounded so good, I had lost my urgency to
commit them to CD.

I have found though, that many listeners have found my LP recordings to
be significantly better than the commercial CDs. That's not surprising
when you think about the fact that there is little incentive for big
companies to ensure the best audio quality in older recordings.

It takes me about 2 hours make a recording now. Most of the time goes
into removing pops and clicks, etc. One advantage I enjoy, is that my
record collection is pristine. From early on, I decided to tape my
records and simply listen to cassettes. So that minimizes the effort
here. However, every album still needs some editing for which I use
DC6 from Diamond Cut Productions. http://www.diamondcut.com I now have
a set of tweaked filters that makes the job pretty painless. I've tried
several other noise reduction programs, and this one has them beat by
far. And no, I don't work for them.

Good luck on your own collection.
