Now, just for the sake of completeness, I would like to note that there is one factor that has not been brought up here, and that is the following: If there is some amount of DC offset in the signal. I imagine that is a possibility, and most likely, there is always some DC offset. If the speaker is ideal, and operating within it's normal limits, even this doesn't make a difference, but since speakers are not ideal and somewhat non-linear, I could see someone making this argument. Whether it would be audible to any degree is another matter.
