I think I agree it's very unlikely you could hear an absolute phase in
music.  But is it totally obvious you can never hear it?

Imagine the following - suppose someone increases the air pressure in
the room you're in, then decreases it.  Clearly you could feel that if
the pressure change is large enough, and it would probably feel
different if they first decreased the pressure, then increased it.  But
the difference between those two is an absolute phase.  

So it's not completely clear to me that you could never, under any
circumstances, hear an overall phase.
