CliveB - yes it could be a difference in the capability of the
drives...or in the discs themselves. I'm happy to admit that various
people will get varying incidences of C2 errors over the entirety of
their CD collection.

As I said, I repurchased all my discs with audible CU errors - kind of
reminded me of my vinyl days :o)

At this stage, I'm more interested in what happens to the validity
bit...is it always set to zero from the SB? (I would imagine it was,
given the fact that the hard disc is very different to a CDP in this
respect - you'd NEVER expect to get a bad word from the disc!
