I use a Red Wine modded SB3 into a Creek OBH-12 to Genelec 8020s and a Sunfire Super Jr.(my 'portable' setup). No loss of dynamics here. Every active preamp I've ever used added distortion and lowered the signal to noise ratio of whatever source I had plugged into it. Others disagree. Twas ever thus. YMMV, my .02 cents, + or - .02 cents margin of error. Tickety boo, Bobs your uncle.
