Congratulations to the Slim Devices team for the new Transporter design. It looks to have addressed many of the requests and suggestions that have been aired here and elsewhere.
As for the price, though it may be out of the range of a large segment of current SB owners, it seems reasonable as an audiophile product. The current SB form factor did not really fit in with the audiophile aesthetic. The Transporter looks spectacular! This looks to be the absolute king of high-quality digital media playback devices, and I'm sure it will receive a ton of attention and scrutiny in the audiophile community. Here's hoping it raises the bar as far as transport sound quality and earns wide acceptance. For us lowly SB3 owners, this is also a Good Thing. Sales of this higher-margin device will help secure the long-term future of this company. Slimserver will likely see an increased focus on high performance and bulletproof reliability from which we will all benefit. And some of the technology of the Transporter will undoubtedly trickle down to future generations of the lower-priced Squeezebox hardware. Nicely done, SD! You guys have really executed well.
