An SB should be significantly better, though only your ears will tell you for sure. If you only have a bog standard Soundblaster, it won't have a very special DAC and the SB3 should be better. But the main difference will be that the Soundblaster has to cope with *lots* of nasty noise inside the PC box, which won't get to the SB3 at all.
Being able to shorten those analogue lines won't hurt, either.
