Simple solution is one of the many Stereo FM transmitter kits available
on the web that output slightly more that the legally allowed maximum
power (50 mW is plenty). Then you will have clean reception at any FM
radio, stereo, car, table radio, etc in or around your house, your car
in the driveway or boom box poolside in the back yard. No cheap 900
MHz speakers, you can use your expensive stereo system, etc. Not
audiophile quality, but close enough for 95% of the population. With a
decent stereo, it really sounds OK.

This is easy to do in rural areas, and more difficult in dense urban
cities where a clear FM broadcast frequency is difficult to come by.
Ideally, you want no other strong station on either side of the
frequency you choose.

There is even a version of an FM transmitter that plugs into your
computer like a sound card. Or use a stand alone transmitter with your
Sqeezebox.

The extreme side of this is higher power FM transmitter (1W or more),
but then this thread isn't about broadcasting to the neightbourhood or
Pirate radio. You only need a small increase in power over the ipod
type tranmitters to make the signal available reliably around your
house.
