In fact a good question. I was recording at 100% with both cartridges - I was up in the red quite a bit with the original cartridge, so maybe I was overdoing it. I think I'm probably OK from a S/N consideration - I've noticed that it's actually finding the track breaks a little better now (with the dial set to -50dB rather than having to drop it to -46 or -48dB). I'm probably making a big fuss over nothing, but never hurts to ask questions! Why not learn in advance of making the mistakes?
