Linkwitz' site is an amazing collection of information. I have been staring at it for over a week since I found it and have just scratched the surface.
For being a penultimate analog guy he writes with an amazingly wide open mind and data driven approach, even when it comes to digital. Very refreshing. Did you look at his comments on phase distortion and DSP crossovers? DSP crossover: http://www.linkwitzlab.com/frontiers.htm#I http://www.linkwitzlab.com/frontiers.htm#K http://www.linkwitzlab.com/orion_asp.htm http://www.linkwitzlab.com/orion-faq.htm#Q14 Phase distortion: http://www.linkwitzlab.com/phs-dist.htm http://www.linkwitzlab.com/phs-dist2.htm His test says no you don't hear it. > > The phase distortion of a 100 Hz acoustic crossover with 12 dB/oct or > 24 dB/oct is not audible based upon the above tests. > This is my conclusion. No one has come forth with either confirming or > contradictory observations. > Anyone have any better data/studies/papers? Anyone wanna try his experiment? -- Eric Carroll ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Eric Carroll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9293 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=31590 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
