It seems to be a common misconception in these discussions that the effects of psychology on preference, or hearing a difference versus not, are predictable based on what you think your expectations are. In other words people seem to think that when they buy something expensive and are pre-disposed to liking it, if they don't it proves that no psychological effect was at work. This is demonstrably false. Researchers in this field would never try to predict the effect of psychology, that's much too hard. Instead they just try to eliminate it. Try the foobar plugin. It's a good ABXY blind test, extremely easy to use, trivial to set up, and it's very very instructive. I'd be very curious to hear anyone's scores in choosing between, say, 320 KBS MP3 and flac, or even 192 VBR MP3 and FLAC. -- opaqueice ------------------------------------------------------------------------ opaqueice's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4234 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32576 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
