Hmm? You shouldn't have to encode to FLAC manually, EAC can call up the FLAC command-line encoder. As for the tags, if you get it right in the EAC window you won't have to touch them. Album art is still a separate process, but Album Art Aggregator makes it really easy. Not automatic though. And regarding drives, apparently there's a super high-end Plextor that can -tilt the optical pickup assembly- to read past damage!
