Inverted channels: yes, it's possible. The RME is a kind of pro gear,
with 8 analog inputs, and no convenient red or white ring to remind you
the right and the left. During my tests, I didn't paid much attention to
this, I must say.
However, don't forget that most of what is catching your attention on
the plot is well below -120 dB. Hardly audible, then. Maybe when using
the SB analog out? Don't know.

Regarding the Terratec, it has an optical digital out (and in as well).
I'm going to check it, stay tuned.
