Adamslim, I find that down-sampling outside of the SB3 definitely sounds better. On some tracks the difference is not so great, but on other tracks the difference in the noise floor is significant enough I can hear it easily from my listening position.
DBpowerAMP has a few bugs which keep it from handling 96kHz Flac files - I am using R12.1 currently. Due to these bugs, I convert 96kHz flac files to 96 kHz Wave, but then I find that the sample rate left in the converted files is 30.5kHz, not 96kHz! I use Audacity to reset the sample rate to the correct value, and then convert the file to 48kHz. Then ... its back to DBpowerAmp for a bulk conversion back to Flac. This is a pain. I am waiting for R12.2 which should have this fixed, and allow us to down-sample 96kHz files directly to 48kHz flac files in one shot. Or - maybe a future firmware upgrade to the SB3 will take care of this:) -Ron -- Ron F. *Squeezebox setup:* wireless SB3 -> CI Audio VDA.2 DAC + VAC.1 PSU *Main rig:* NAD 7600 + NAD 2600A -> Phase Tech PC-6.5 speakers *Headphone rig:* Headroom Max -> Sennheiser 650s *Other stuff:* NAD C542 CDP, NAD 6300 Tape, Monster 5100 Power conditioner, Outlaw Audio cables ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ron F.'s Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5616 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34985 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
