If I was to install a 2-channel system instead of the 5.1, the
SCM100A's would be in my top 3 choices - I'm jealous Clive!.

I've used various Tannoy's in the studio over the years, and also I
used to use my old active Bariks (just like Linn themselves used to!)

Amusingly, when "pro audio" (yuck - horrible term) gear is reviewed in
audio mags it is often criticised for mediocre imaging (or rather
constriction of height and depth...dunno why... bit odd really when you
consider what these things are actually being used for...)

Also, "analytical" is a term often used in a perjorative sense with
this gear. The point they seem to miss is that these things are first
and foremost tools of the trade. They need to do things that domestic
speakers don't (like not blow up when given a 1,000w sine wave by
mistake... or play all day at full volume). They also need to be very
consistent from day to day, unaffected by humidity etc.

There is a school of thought that these speakers need accoustically
well behaved rooms (like control rooms...) to sound at their best - but
I would argue that is true of ANY speaker. Digital RC always works well
with these speakers in my experience, for some reason.

You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it
ain't what you'd call minimal...

...SB3+TACT+Altmann+MF DACXV3/Linn tri-amped Aktiv 5.1 system and some
very expensive cables ;o)
