You make it sound like it was just me. None of us could hear it, at least not when we couldn't see which one we were listening to. That doesn't prove no one will ever hear a difference. On a system with low enough overall noise floor, you could probably hear it by cranking up the volume very high and listening to a silent or near-silent track. Maybe it's also possible in more interesting situations, although I doubt it. Sometimes people want to own the best even when it's overkill. I have no problem with that at all.
