Hey. I am on the brink of buying a Transporter for my main stereo and an
SB3 for the second one. As the pruchase approaches, I have been spending
a lot of time on this and other related forums learning the ins and outs
of setting up a network to stream lossless digital files throughut my
house.

While I am very excited by the idea of the Slim Device products, it has
occurred to me that I may not really need one. It has occurred to me
that I could accomplish the same end by putting my music on a NAS
device, connecting the NAS directly to a DAC, and using a Nokia 770 or
comparable device as an interface. That way, I could either save a
little money or get a better DAC than the Transporter for my main
system.

I know the question may be heresy on this site, but I would like some
opinions on this alternative. Maybe I am missimg something, but I am
very interested in the topic. Thanks much.
