Which NAS are you looking at that has a digital audio out? And what "interface" are you referring to? SlimServer to catalog the music and SoftSqueeze to play it? Can SoftSqueeze even run on a NAS?
It's not heresy, you can accomplish all this with a PC. But if you just look on all the (paranoid) threads on here about power supplies, even going as far as a battery, what do you think the power is like on a PC?
