Mark. You may have hit on the answer to my question. In reading about NAS devices, I thought I had been told that I could run ethernet cable directly from the NAS to a router and then from the router either wirelessly or with ethernet to the Transporter/SB3. Wouldn't it be the same for any DAC?
Slim Server comes installed on several NAS devices, including NetGear ReadyNAS NV+. The power supply issue is interesting, but I thought I had read that many good DACs (Benchmark comes to mind) have a built in solution for the jitter issues caused by a poor power supply. Those are my thoughts. I am very knowlegeable about music, fairly knowledgeable about audio, but very ignorant of computer related issues. I may be way off base here; that's why I am asking.
