It can confirm, it hasn't been fixed (fw33).
Haven't tried the new fw34 yet, but there's no mention of this specific
bug with its release.

I do have a tip for you though:

Instead of power cycling to get audio output, switch to another digital
input, and then back again. In my case, this solves the no-audio output
issue.
As for the burst of noise when you start an input, this still happens
now and then.

I too use the transporter as pre-amp, and besides these few issues, I
really do like its simplicity. I too vote for this "rename + move to
root" feature.
