Thanks for the replies, but haven't found much here I can use. Sorry, for not mentioning it in my first post -- this is with the Squeezebox. As far as I can tell there is no 'audio settings' option. Just a 'settings' option and 'disable volume adjustment', which I have set to 'on'. Can't find anything to adjust bit-rate.
To answer a couple other suggestions - don't really want to pay $2000 for the Transporter, since I already have a $4000 DAC. That's the trick here, I just need to get a 'clean' signal from the ethernet cable to my modded Electrocompaniet DAC. My files are primarily 16/44.1 aiff since I have an Apple computer. I also have a few hundred hours of 24 bit/48 aiff files that I've recorded at shows myself with two Neumann U89i's.
