Ethernet has nothing to do with your problem. The weak link is in the SPDIF connection. It looks like your cdp handles it little better than SB - on coax. Try glass toslink and you may be surprised. If you want to abandon SPDIF altogether and have high quality dac the ONLY source available on the market is the Transporter.
