Have a look at the file types setting in slimserver, and make shore that
our aiff's are not transcoded into mp3.
it looks somthing like this on my server:
File Format Stream Format Decoder
x AIFF AIFF (built-in)
x AIFF FLAC flac
AIFF MP3 lame
You can be even more paranoid & untic the aiff - flac option.
Hmm on a second note try the optical input on our dac to rule out any
electrical problems as you are running cabled ethernet, i'm guessing
here i don't know if ethernet provides galvanic isolation or not but
worth a try.
A quick and dirty test to see if your transfer are resonable bit
accurat is to use a wav file of some DTS encoded stuff (rip a dts cd or
dowload) and plugg the spdiff into nearest home theater reciever, if any
bits are altered the reciever will not regognise the dts flag's and
return with white noise.
SR (swedish radio) had a couple off files suitable for this test, i
cant find them anymore :-( sorry, the link is probaly dead by now.
