I would call it disturbingly bright and sibilant with recessed "middle". At least in my system (PassLabs x1-x250, Martin Logan Ascent). It's WAY brighter than Meridian's 5xx, Linn Ikemy, Densen 400(X). Currently I switched from RCA to XLR. XLR in my fully balanced system sounds SLIGHTLY better (greater sense of ease).
