Lossless vs Lossy for me depends on the type of music I listen to.

For anything that uses any sort of instruments, it's lossless only. For
music made using computer equipment (e.g. dance) I don't really  have a
preference but if I had to choose I'd go lossy for the storage space
savings.

I did a comparison using a spectrum analyzer on a piece of music that
was ripped as a wav and then encoded as a .ogg, .mp3 and .wma at the
"then" available maximum settings.

Upon comparing the music it was evident that each of the compression
versions had missing information. The worst of the bunch was the wma,
it was missing whole blocks of information. The best of the bunch was
more selective in what it cut out and that was the .ogg. I didn't do a
listening comparison because my listening equipment consisted of a pair
of crappy logitech computer speakers...I was a broke student because I
spent all my money on beer ;-)
