I wonder what on earth the D-75 could be doing to muddy up the sound like that?? Literally it sounded like the SB3 or my preamp or something else was broken. When even a plain ole interconnect can improve the sound by such a huge factor, maybe the D-75 was defective? with the conductor parts somehow bathed in glue or mud before being assembled.... I do have freebie optical and coax cables lying around somewhere--maybe I'll give them a try.
