It's a long time since I used Naim gear, but back in the 1990's their basic power amp circuit relied on the input signal being bandwidth-limited. That's why they didn't work well with non-Naim preamps (which provided the necessary bandwidth limiting), and one would presume that driving one direct from an unrestrained source would be asking for trouble. It's conceivable that the basic design of the NAP250 has been changed in recent years, but I doubt it.
