The debate seems to be whether a Naim power amp delivers a flat frequency response when driven direct or whether the Naim preamps compensate in some way for inherent colourations imposed by the power amp.
Naim have never been renound for completely transparent reproduction and the 'Naim Sound' is something to either like or dislike. Personally, I find Naim amps emotionally engaging and am prepared to pay the price if necessary... I'm about to blind test the CD5 against the Transporter with my current amps, I've had the CD5 switched off since buying the Transporter but I will give it one more go to prove my conviction that the Transporter is an excellent source. -- DaveBk DaveBk...
