I know what you mean about can't wait to get home and listen some more! I'm also using the DEQ2496 as a DAC for my SB3 (besides doing the equalizing in the digital domain) and I'm getting very good sound. I listened to Mozart's Prague symphony this morning, 128kbps on Pandora and it sounded great!
