I understand Brian Dipert's thoughts. They sound logical, although he
has a tendency of using shortcuts ("one pragmatic answer..." that's a
bit too easy of an answer and it's merely based on pseudo-psychological
consumerist thoughts). IMHO, his thoughts are too heavily
industry-driven.

I'm genuinely amazed that he cites -Stereophile- (J.Atkinson) as a
source... especially when you know the "friendly" relationship of AES
and Stereophile during the 90's :

(I encourage all of you to read the letters attached. They are a bit
long, but they are necessary in order to get a more synthetic vision of
what was going on back then)
