There's a lot of stuff out there. Try to listen as much as possible at dealers and shows. You'll quickly realise a lot of stuff doesn't sound that great. Plenty of good stuff in between though.
My favourite system ever is not available commercially, it's a DIY loudspeaker, the Linkwitz Orion. I recommend you seek an audition on the user group http://orion.quicksytes.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3. It can't do you any harm anyway. Bear in mind despite the worthwhile search for 'accuracy' taste DOES still come into it.
