Hi Sean, One practical scenario (among others) that benefits from this product, in my experience, is when using 'Scott Endler's 4k \"shotgun\" attenuators' (http://mysite.verizon.net/vze4c5pt/id2.html), which attach directly to the power amplifier. When driving these (and other) passive attenuators, the Burson Buffer IMO produces very noticeable sonic improvements every time - whether the source is an SB3, a sound card, a standalone disk player, etc. Sound quality from this combo, to me, exceeds all but a few very expensive preamps we've tried to date. I was hoping you might know the reason for how this can happen - I have asked how can this Burson product, which is "just" a buffer, be possibly doing this? I've asked this question on many occasions in several forums. I cannot explain it, and this has frustrated me quite a bit. Placebo? Maybe - for although the difference certainly seems consistently noticeable to myself and family, it's (of course) always difficult to rule out the placebo effect. In my opinion, it's much more elegant, practical, and simple, to just have a source that exhibits such benefits without any added "help" from an external buffer, or DSP, tube distortion, EQ, etc. So far I've thankfully found a couple of sources that fit the bill! :) -- NewBuyer ------------------------------------------------------------------------ NewBuyer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7862 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=56068 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
